Family Involvement

We value and appreciate family involvement! We have an “open door” policy that welcomes families to visit the center at any time during the day. We expect to collaborate with our parents to ensure that your children have the opportunity to develop to their fullest potential. We expect to communicate with you often about your child’s physical, emotional, social, and intellectual growth and behavior. Please inform us of any changes in your child’s schedule, routine, or home environment. We welcome and value parent involvement in our school. The success of our school activities depends largely on the support we receive from our parents. You will have insight into your child’s school life firsthand!

Parent Resources

Kingdom Kidz Childcare Services encourages partnering with our parents to meet the needs of the children. Please feel free to share any resources or strategies you have with us to add to the parent resource list. Here are a few parent resources!

Nutrition - Introducing New Food
1. Introduce only one new food at a time.
2. Serve new food with familiar foods.
3. Serve only small amounts of the new food – begin with one teaspoonful.
4. Introduce new food only when the child is hungry.
5. Talk about the new food – taste, color, texture, etc.

Basic prevention in spreading colds:

-Wash hands for at least 15 seconds. Singing (ABC song) during this time makes it fun for the children
-Teach your child to catch sneezes and coughs in their elbow and not their hand.
-Keep sanitizer handy. Encourage children to rub hard on the top and inside of hands.
-Teach children to use tissue to wipe their nose, not their hands or sleeves of their shirts.

Reading is a team effort!

Parents play an integral role in the literacy development of young children. Studies have shown that reading to your child promotes early reading and writing abilities. It also gives children an opportunity to use their imagination and enhance their communication/language skills. It is a wonderful way for parents to spend quality time with their child as they help them develop a love for books and learning

Here are a few tips to enhance your reading experience with your children:

-Choose books about things that interest children like animals, or other children.
-Choose books with vivid pictures!
-When you read to your child, hold him/her on your lap.
-Engage your child by pointing to pictures and asking questions.
-Sometimes allow the child to hold the book, turn the pages, and read if they desire.
-Explain to them the parts of the books (back, front, spine, title, author, and illustrator.

The Value of Play!

Children discover new things through the activity of play. They learn and develop physically,
cognitively, socially, emotionally, creatively, intellectually using language by engaging in play. Playing is fun and it offers a pressure free environment to explore. Play is a venue that allows children to discover the world around them. It is the optimal time to look for opportunities to teach children while they are being positively stimulated from their experience.

Here are a few developmental benefits of play:
-Physically, they learn how to effectively use their bodies.
-Cognitively, they learn how to plan and set goals, perform tasks, understand the use of different objects, use their imagination, and reenact experiences.
-Emotionally, they learn how to control their impulses, work through different feelings, resolve conflicts, and express themselves in healthy ways.
-Socially, they develop the confidence to initiate play with others, form relationships, and respect the feelings of others by sharing and cooperating with them.
-Simultaneously, communication/language skills are developing because they are frequently being used.
